Artist Bio

Hannah Louise Rivers was born in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. She has been involved in the arts since she was very young. Her mother, a painter, encouraged her creativity in all mediums. Rivers started ballet lessons at the age of three and continues to dance. Her background as a dancer affects the movement and lines in her mixed media paintings.

The artwork Rivers produces has always been influenced by nature. Surrounded by wildlife growing up, the subjects of her artworks focused on animals.

After graduating from Jackson Hole High School, she moved to Bellingham, Washington where she studied Studio Art at Western Washington University. Here she explored different techniques in building up surfaces. Upon returning from a trip to Hawaii, she started creating abstract paintings of the ocean. This inspired her through multiple bodies of work and has led her to focus on a series of abstracted landscapes with social or environmental impact.

She graduated June 2015 with a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art with a Mixed Media concentration, and minor studies in Dance and Art History. Rivers has her own studio space in Bellingham where she is able to further her artistic practices.
